OPP Divers Recover Missing Swimmer

(RENFREW, ON) - The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a drowning after a swimmer failed to surface on Monday August 6, 2018 at Logos Land Resort near Cobden in the Township of Whitewater Region. Members of the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) attended and recovered her body on Tuesday afternoon.



Officers responded to the scene Monday at approximately 2:30 pm. The 18 year old female was swimming in a lake with family members when she failed to surface. Lifeguards were summoned and searched for the female but she was not located. The female has been identified as Maria (Jessah) PANED aged 18 of Ottawa. A post mortem examination will be conducted. Foul play is not suspected. Provincial Constable Lindsay Moore is leading the investigation.
