Orillia OPP Seize Handgun, Drugs and Cash

(ORILLIA, ON) - The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested 3 people with drug and firearms offences in the City of Orillia.
On September 14, 2018 at approximately 2:40 AM while on patrol police observed a vehicle violating the Highway Traffic Act. A traffic stop was conducted and an investigation into the offence started. Through the investigation police located a loaded hand gun, a quantity of cash and drugs.
As a result of this investigation police charged the following people:
Sydney Bunkun, age 20, of Toronto.
Possession of a Restricted Firearm for Dangerous Purpose, contrary to Section 88(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Unauthorized Possession of a Restricted Firearm, contrary to Section 91(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Possession of Weapon Obtained by Commission of an Offence, contrary to Section 96(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Possession of a Restricted Firearm in a motor vehicle, contrary to Section 94(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Possession of a Loaded Firearm with Ammunition, contrary to Section 95(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Tampering with Serial Number, contrary to Section 108(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Mischief Under $5000, contrary to Section 430(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Obstruct Police Officer, contrary to Section 129(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Possession of a Schedule II Substance contrary to Controlled Drugs and Substances Act section 4(1)
Derick Freeman, age 21, of Toronto.
Possession of a Restricted Firearm for Dangerous Purpose, contrary to Section 88(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Unauthorized Possession of a Restricted Firearm, contrary to Section 91(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Possession of Weapon Obtained by Commission of an Offence , contrary to Section 96(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Possession of a Restricted Firearm in a motor vehicle, contrary to Section 94(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Possession of a Loaded Firearm with Ammunition, contrary to Section 95(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Tampering with Serial Number, contrary to Section 108(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Resist Lawful Arrest, contrary to Section 129(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Possession of a Schedule II Substance contrary to Controlled Drugs and Substances Act section 4(1)
Taneisha Hemmelgarn, age 22, of Orillia.
Possession of a Restricted Firearm for Dangerous Purpose, contrary to Section 88(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Unauthorized Possession of a Restricted Firearm, contrary to Section 91(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Possession of Weapon Obtained by Commission of an Offence, contrary to Section 96(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Possession of a Restricted Firearm in a motor vehicle, contrary to Section 94(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Possession of a Loaded Firearm with Ammunition, contrary to Section 95(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Tampering with Serial Number, contrary to Section 108(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Possession of a Schedule II Substance contrary to Controlled Drugs and Substances Act section 4(1)
All three were held in custody for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia where they were remanded into custody with a next court appearance scheduled for September 20, 2018.
