Fatal Hit & Run – Laura MANDAMIN Arrested

(SHOAL LAKE 39 FIRST NATION) – An individual has been charged as part of an ongoing death investigation in Shoal Lake 39 First Nation.

On October 9, 2024, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Major Case Investigation Team, and Treaty Three Police Service (T3PS) Crime Unit arrested an individual in connection to an investigation. As a result, Laura MANDAMIN, 32-years-old, of Shoal Lake 39 First Nation has been arrested and charged with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code:

Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs – Section 320.14(1)(a),
Fail to stop at accident resulting in death – Section 320.16(3)
The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on November 7, 2024.

The investigation is being conducted under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
